Professor Hongna Bystrom grew up in Tieling, China. She moved to the United States in 2001. She has worked at University of Northwestern in the Registrar's Office, as well as the Center for Graduate Studies as Recruitment Manager. She loves students and has enjoyed pouring into the younger generation by teaching classes and leading the Chinese Club. "I feel that teaching has challenged me to dig in deeper in both language and culture. God has anointed me through my students, and I come out of class every day feeling energized." Prof. Bystrom is excited to learn what the students think and sees mutual benefit in her relationships with her students. Her interests include reading, investing in people, mentoring young girls, and going to nursing homes to sing carols at Christmastime. "My newly found interest is American Football!" It's one thing that is unique to us as a nation. She loves the strategy and wisdom involved in the game.
