Amy Nelson is an alum of Northwestern's English Education Program. She taught middle school and high school language arts in the Twin Cities.
Her research interests include novice teachers' abilities to use assessment to improve student learning and the impact of school choice on improving student learning.
Dr. Nelson has a heart for teacher training in developing nations and has participated in teacher training in Mozambique.
Dr. Nelson serves as the Communication Arts and Literature Education (CALE) Coordinator and teaches courses in the education and English departments. She enjoys mentoring student teaching candidates and working with teachers in many school districts in the metro area.
